Case Studies

Proven delivery in complex public sector environments.

A selection of programmes I have led across the NHS and public sector, where governance and risk discipline turned complex, high stakes challenges into measurable, lasting results.

Case Study 01 · Natural England

Strengthening Delivery Programme

93%

Reduction in customer service caseloads

The challenge

Natural England needed to lift operational efficiency and service delivery across its national programmes. Processes had to be streamlined, stakeholder engagement improved, and performance metrics met consistently, with much sharper alignment between regional operations and national strategy.

What I did

As Programme Manager, I led the Strengthening Delivery programme, rebuilding the operating framework and governance structures. I ran a full scoping workshop to align roles and responsibilities, established robust programme management frameworks, and introduced standardised KPIs and delivery metrics across regions, reaching 100% completion of quarterly performance reports. I also led resource reallocation planning to improve efficiency.

The outcome

Operational alignment improved across every region, giving more cohesive and efficient service delivery. Standardised metrics kept teams on target, lifted stakeholder satisfaction, and made resource use far more effective. The programme delivered significant cost savings and a 93% reduction in customer service caseloads, alongside much stronger alignment between regional and national strategy.

Digital Child Health Programme

52.5m

Data points migrated, with a 50% cut in admin costs

The challenge

The programme set out to integrate fragmented child health records across 21 Child Health Record Departments in London. Without standardised digital systems, the service carried inefficiency, high administrative cost, and inconsistent data, all of which held back delivery of the Healthy Child Programme.

What I did

As Project Manager, I led the integration of 21 departments into four regional hubs. I ran a thorough gap analysis, managed the tender process to select four Child Health Information Service hubs and a central clinical system provider, and oversaw the migration of 52.5 million data points. I put in place a governance and risk management framework, including monthly performance and contract management meetings.

The outcome

Administrative costs fell by 50% and data consistency and accessibility improved markedly. Standardised digital records strengthened delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and improved care for over 14 million children, setting a new benchmark for digital health services in the region.

Genomics Workforce & PMO

50+

Specialist roles recruited and onboarded in 12 weeks

The challenge

Through the COVID-19 pandemic, UKHSA had to scale its workforce rapidly while holding operational efficiency and meeting stringent government guidelines, all under acute time pressure.

What I did

As Workforce and Resourcing Lead and PMO Lead, I streamlined recruitment and onboarding, bringing in over 50 specialist roles within 12 weeks. I managed the redesign of the organisational structure as policy and budget shifted, and established governance and reporting frameworks that kept projects on time and in scope. I also implemented a RAID process to keep records accurate and risks managed.

The outcome

Rapid hiring and onboarding met UKHSA’s critical staffing needs during the crisis. The redesigned structure improved efficiency and compliance, and the governance and reporting frameworks raised accountability and transparency across all projects. The work was recognised with a UKHSA commendation for performance.
